CAMPER COMFORT

Suggestions for parents :
  • Tell him/her of your camping experience if you have had one.
  • Read the brochure together and talk about what he/she can expect.
  • Make a list of questions that you can ask the camp if things come up that you can not answer.
  • Take a tour of the camp if possible. (check our schedule for Open House time or call the camp for a time to visit)
  • Do not tell the child that he/she might get homesick. That will only put it into their head. If they bring it up then you should address it directly.
  • Give the child postcards or stationery with envelopes and stamps so he/she can write home and to friends and relatives. (make sure he/she has the addresses)
  • Write to the child while he/she is at camp. Mail call is an important part of the day and a child beams when his/her name is called. Have others write to your child too.
  • Pack something from home that is special to your child (but not valuables). Things like a special teddy or pillow case or a picture.
  • Have your child attend with a sibling or a friend.
  • Pack a notebook so your child can collect names and addresses of his/her new friends.
